LUXEMBOURG / 433 LUXEMBOURG The first coins were used in the late 10th century and were silver deniers. In the 1300s, silver sterlings were in evidence, followed by silver double gros and bronze centimes. The silver franc was popu-lar in the mid-1900s, and the cupro-nickel franc in the latter 1900s. Decimal coins were used in 1854. The currency today is the franc.
