C., with the silver denarius in 50 B. C., bronze coins in the 1st century B. C., and copper fals in 731 A. D. The silver dirham was in evidence in the 700s, fol-lowed by the gold dinar, silver square dirham, and gold double dinar in the 12th and 13th centuries.
